Source Article: What the science says about Tylenol and autism

As recent reports cite that there is a potential link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and the risk for autism I was wondering if you are getting questions from your patients.  As even pediatrician recommended childhood vaccine schedules are under fire from skeptics and parents, I suspect that any link between acetaminophen and autism would be a cause for concern from pregnant patients and parents of young children.  Kenvue, the maker of Tylenol, saw their stock drop 9% in one indicating that sales are expected to decrease making the investment more volatile.

I remember being a new parent—hyper-aware and concerned about any potential risks, no matter how small, that medications or foods could pose to my child. I always trusted my pediatrician and followed the recommended vaccination schedule for my kids. But if there had been any concern that something taken during pregnancy could increase the risk of autism, I absolutely would have avoided giving it to them.

I’m sure OB/GYN and pediatric offices are getting a lot of questions… but what are you hearing from patients?
