I am fortunate to be attending the 2025 California Urgent Care Association (CalUCA) Western Regional Conference in Irvine, California.  The event kicked off with beautiful weather (per usual in CA!) and a very fun reception for attendees and exhibitors to get to know each other.  The DJ was great, and a fun time of networking was had by all.

Today’s agenda was filled with discussions on AI, advocacy and the future of Urgent Care, including the presentation “Urgent Care: Proving Value and Shaping the Future” by UCA’s CEO, Steve Sellars. The room was packed as Steve outlined the challenges facing Urgent Care and emphasized the importance of demonstrating the value of the Urgent Care model. Urgent Care has already shown that it improves access to care, reduces emergency department visits, and bridges the gap between primary care and the ED. UCA and its chapters remain committed to reinforcing this value across the healthcare continuum through state and federal advocacy efforts—using data on cost savings and developing quality metrics that clearly show payers that Urgent Care delivers high-quality, convenient, and cost-effective patient care.

Other presentations include topics such as – Top Coding and Documentation Mistakes, Antibiotic Stewardship and of course the importance of data for every aspect of the business.  I’ll keep share more as the conference continues but wanted to give big kudos to the CalUCA team for coordinating such a great event!
