On Wednesday, July 23rd HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. signed a recommendation from the CDC and ACIP to remove the mercury-based preservative thimerosal from all influenza vaccines distributed in the US. The percentage of vaccines containing thimerosal in the previous season was 4-5%.
Thimerosal is one component that contributes to the hesitancy that parents express today regarding vaccines.
