What are FP residents looking for from their healthcare career journey?

At the AAFP Future conference last month an interactive career journey wall was displayed for the resident and student attendees to interact with. 
I was so interested in it… I stopped to look at it several times over the course of the event. 

Each attendee got a string that they wrapped around their choices for each question giving a visual of their journey.  The questions were:

• What first sparked your passion for medicine?
• What’s your ideal practice setting?
• What’s the most important aspect of your career?
• What do you hope to master next?
• I couldn’t do this without…
• What do you want to be remembered for?

Were the attendees answering like I thought they would?  I might have asked different questions than AAFP did, but I think the outcome offers insight into what the next group of physicians might be seeking from their careers.

UCF and UCA participated in this event to showcase why Urgent Care is an exciting and rewarding career they should consider as they begin to explore their options after residency.
